Tall As a Giraffe (All Ages)
What would the world look like from the perspective of different animals? Get a tape measure and a fold-out stepladder, and take it outside to set up on a safe, soft surface (such as over your grass or wood chips; make sure it’s stable and a teacher is holding it). Then use the tape measure to measure the heights of the different animals listed below, and have kids climb down or up to see what the world looks like from that animals’ perspective. Here are some heights for different animals to measure:
- Silverback gorilla: 4-6 feet
- Giraffe: 15-19 feet tall (the world’s tallest animal)
- Elephant: 12 feet
- Hippopotamus: 4 to 5 1/2 feet tall
- Horse:
- Grizzly bear standing up on its hind legs:
- Penguin:
- Kangaroo:
